1) It is FUN!


2) To talk to other people - to communicate

  • Spanish is the world's third most spoken language, after Mandarin Chinese and English, and ranks second in terms of native speakers.

  • Today, almost 500 million people worldwide speak Spanish!

  • Spanish is the mother tongue of approximately 350 million people in 21 countries (Mexico: 98 million, Spain: 39 million, USA: 39 million, Argentina: 35 million, Colombia: 36 million, Venezuela: 22 million, Peru: 20 million…) It is also widely spoken in many more where it is not an official language.

  • Spanish is the second most used language in international communication, and an official language of the UN and its organizations.

3) More money

  • 29 million US residents above the age of 5 speak Spanish at home. That's approximately 1 of every 10 US residents, an enormous consumer and business-to-business market.

4) Travel

  • As stated above, over 21 countries are Spanish speaking, and contrary to popular American belief, not "everyone" speaks English. You are guaranteed to get lost less often, get better service, and immerse yourself in your environment if you even know a few things in the target language.

5) Creativity

  • Countless studies tout the benefits of bilingualism including one done in 1992 that found that "twenty of the studies found bilinguals to be more creative than monolinguals."

6) Cognitive development

  • Knowing 2 languages can add cognitive flexibility and allows the child to build a more complex understanding of the word at a younger age. Studies have shown that kids with 2 languages are better able to focus and learn to read earlier than kids that only speak one language. School age children that speak two languages have consistently higher test scores in ALL subjects than students who speak only one language.
